Overview
Curatorial Note
Brazilian pressing of Juan el de la Vara’s Sigo Penando, issued by Discos Continental in 1976 from a Spanish recording master. The album documents the cante of a Gitano flamenco singer within the commercial recording culture of the twentieth century, while this Brazilian edition provides evidence of the international circulation of Spanish flamenco recordings in Latin America. As a locally manufactured edition of a Spanish recording, it is particularly relevant to the study of the transnational distribution and reception of Gitano flamenco.
