A noir novel centered on the investigation into the torture and murder of an elderly Hungarian Rom near Rennes, France. Through the conventions of crime fiction, Pirozzi examines the social marginalization of Roma and gens du voyage and the discrimination surrounding itinerant communities in contemporary France. Originally published in 2001, Romicide received the Prix SNCF du premier polar and was reissued in a revised version by Rivages/Noir in 2010.
