Recollections of Roma Holocaust survivers
Curatorial Note
A trilingual oral-history collection documenting the experiences of Roma survivors of the Holocaust through first-person testimony. Edited by Gábor Bernáth, the volume presents survivor recollections in Romani, Hungarian, and English, preserving individual accounts of persecution and survival while situating Roma voices at the center of the historical record. The interviews were conducted by a group of Roma and non-Roma researchers and cultural figures, with English translation by Anna Radnóti and Romani translations by Józsefné Mohácsi and Edit Mohácsi. Historical images were provided by the Documentation and Cultural Centre of German Sinti and Roma and the International Auschwitz Committee. The publication constitutes an important source for the documentation of the Roma Holocaust and the development of Roma-centered practices of historical memory in Hungary.
