Curatorial Note

A bilingual collection of poetry and images by Ceija Stojka, bringing together literary and visual forms of autobiographical expression in Romani and German. The poems engage with family memory, persecution, survival, and the lasting trauma of the Nazi genocide while affirming Lovara identity through Stojka’s distinctive literary and artistic voice. This copy has additional archival significance for bearing a handwritten signature and an original graphic intervention by Stojka on the title page, dated 20 January 2004, extending into the physical copy the close relationship between writing and visual expression that characterizes her work.
