Zor-sila najaripe mashkar e Roma / Forced bathings in Romani settlements (1940–1985)
Curatorial Note
Trilingual documentary volume examining the forced bathing of Roma in Hungarian settlements between 1940 and 1985. Combining historical research, oral testimony, interviews, photographs and official documents, the publication exposes the intersection of public-health policy, institutional control, racialized stigma and humiliation in the treatment of Roma communities. Particularly significant is its juxtaposition of Roma recollections with photographs and administrative records largely produced by the institutions that organized the bathings, allowing the volume to document both lived experience and the official gaze through which these practices were justified.
