Curatorial Note
Anthology of Romani folk poetry collected among Kolompár Roma communities in Hungary, bringing together songs, ballads, and other forms of oral expression. Selected by László Szegő, who also contributed translations, notes, and an extensive afterword, the volume includes Hungarian translations by a notable group of Hungarian poets and writers, among them György Petri, Sándor Weöres, Zoltán Jékely, and others. Illustrated by László Bartha and published by Európa Könyvkiadó in 1977, the volume constitutes an important documentary source for Romani-language oral culture and its literary mediation in late twentieth-century Hungary.
